Rons Place

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - Bar NONE the best hamburger I have ever tasted in my life. Its called the Rons 5 x 5. Its only five bucks and its HUGE, it comes with fries as well. Believe me when I say that I can eat, and this dish most of the time will fill me up. When it doesn't, it makes great leftovers to. You can really taste the grill on this hamburger. Rons place has amazing appetizers to. The fried clams are delicious as are the olivenos. I do not like eating olives, but the olivenos I cannot even taste the olives in. Its fried, contains cheese and different herbs, its delicious. Rons is an excellent place to go out for drinks. They have mostly beers, mixed drinks and a few selections of wine including my favorite, Lambrusco red wine. They even have Apricot Brandy which is my only preferred hard liquor beverage. They have about a dozen in a half different flavors of long island ice teas which is what they are famous for along with there 5 x 5 hamburgers, I hear they are all very good but I have not tried any myself because I'm not a long island ice tea fan. Rons place all in all has top quality food at an inexpensive dollar price, a FUN atmosphere, and on Friday and Saturday nights the grill is open till 1 A.M.!!! This combination of entertainment has made Rons Place a late night savior many, many times for myself and friends. Its the best value in town.
The Boat House

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - My Favorite here is the baked or broiled whitefish with a bowl of clam chowder soup. The whitefish is the best whitefish I have ever had and the clam chowder is about as good as red lobsters, but won't cost you as much. The fried Shrimp, Shrimp scampi and chicken sandwiches are also extremely good dishes. The portions are very filling and top quality. The mixed drinks are very good and inexpensive. They use top brand juices to mix with. Lots of beer selections and they also serve Lambrusco red wine if asked for. The food is more pricey but its not too bad, for the amount and top quality of food you get the value is certainly there. The Boat House is a very fun atmosphere. Some nights they will have live music. The theme is a nautical decor, they have a balcony that over looks the north harbor in Kenosha which makes for a great drinking/socializing/eating/hangout place on a summer night. You can eat at the bar, in the restaurant or on the balcony.

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - The Ambiance of Chops on the Lake reminds me of a typical up scale chop house in Chicago. It is very nice inside and very expensive. If you don't care how much you spend as long as you get the best cut of steak, then this is the place for you.

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - The Wine Knot is a casual dress ambiance with a neat artistic flare to it. The food here is very good. I recommend doing a cheese study with a flight of wine. Let the waiter or waitress recommend to you which flight of wine goes with which cheese study. The service here is very knowledgeable and charming.
Sandpiper Waterfront Grill

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - I had to come here a few times till I found something that I really enjoyed. Everything I have tried here is mediocre except for the chicken Florentine. They really out did themselves on that one dish so much that I have no desire to order anything but the chicken Florentine from the Sand Piper from now on. The home potato fries are also extremely delicious and are signature to the Sand Piper. The Ambiance is a typical nautical theme. Its a superb place to go out for lunch with some friends.

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - Everything on the menu here is delicious. My favorites are the chicken wings, hamburgers and pizza. The service is super friendly and the ambiance reminds me of an older Lodge in the country side.
The Big Downtown/Palmer House Hotel

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - This place has among the best steak I have ever had before and it fills up me no problem! You also get a big bucket of curly fries that are delicious and impossible to finish in one sitting. You will bring home left overs from this place. Its a little expensive but the value is certainly there. Compared to other Chicago steak houses its really not expensive at all, Chicago is just an extremely expensive city. Its split up into two sections with two different atmospheres. The first one is more of an afternoon lunch or evening drinking kind of open area. The other section is definitely a more intimate dinner setting decorated with old portraits and statues.
Stetsons Chop House at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Chicago

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - You cant get a finer cut of steak than at Stetsons chop house. I don't know if its the typical $100 per person bill that's usually footed here or if the meat is really that good. It is very good but I personally would never spend a hundred dollars on myself for one meal, thank god this trip wasn't on me! The ambiance is probably the most relaxing I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Everything from the lighting, the up scale decor, the aroma, it was even complete with a live jazz vocalist accompanied by a pianist at just the right volume to not drown out conversation. This place really has its act together to make you feel good by soothing all of the senses, but you will pay dearly in dollars.
Dakota Rose

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - If I had to choose an all time favorite steak house, this would be it. Dakota Rose probably has the best cut of rib eye steak I have ever had before in my life but I think it depends on who is cooking. For some reason it tastes better on Friday and Saturday nights. The lobster is also very good, surf and turf never got any more delicious. The ambiance is intimate and cozy, casual dress. Nothing too up scale but yet a far cry from an all night diner. I tried the salmon once, big mistake. It wasn't bad fish but compared to how well they do steak here, don't even bother with anything else on the menu. They also have excellent soup and salad to go with your meal. They have an excellent wine list to choose from for bringing out even more flavor with your steak. Compared to other steak houses Dakota Rose is very inexpensive. At the price they charge and the quality of meat they serve, its definitely the best value for steak in the world that I know of.

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - This is just a small little coffee shop in Kenosha. I am not a coffee drinker but I hear from multiple sources its better than star bucks. I love their hot chocolate and coffee cakes, they are better than good. Common grounds is a little gem in Kenosha that not many people know about. It sits right on the north side harbor over looking the water. Nice place, spectacular view, nice service, wonderful beverages and scrumptiously delicious coffee cakes.
The Drift Wood

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - The Driftwood has lousy fish but they have the best Prime Rib dinner Bar None. I won't even bother with anyone else on the menu because I am so entranced by their Prime Rib. The salad bar is also very good, everything here is fresh. Lambrusco red wine is available if you ask for it. The ambiance for this kind of place is surprisingly something to be desired in contrast to other Restaurants who serve such high quality meat. The price for Prime Rib is inexpensive making this extremely high quality piece of meat the best value in the world that I know of for prime rib.
Italian American Club

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - It is really difficult to find good Italian food. This is the only restaurant I know of who does know to serve Italian food and they do it so well. Its a classy restaurant, all Italian decor and a very well stocked wine cellar. The service is friendly, the food is magnificent and the prices are very reasonable. This is the perfect place to get dressed up for to go out to dinner with family and friends.

- Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - This isn't really much of a restaurant, its more of a carry out type place so don't go here if you want to dine out. The only reason I added Gyros and Heroes is because they have an absolutely delicious grilled Cajun Catfish dinner with french fries. It is a large portion, most will have left overs but I can manage to finish if I am hungry enough. They tend too put to much salt on the meat so I will ask them to go very lightly on the salt. They also have excellent gyros but the grilled Cajun Catfish is what does it for me.

Review - Food - Ambiance - Value - This is a restaurant I had always wanted to try and finally I went out there with a friend. I was blown away. The food was second to none. It was among the best food I have ever eaten before in my life. The establishment consists of a bar/grill and then there is another section isolated from the bar/grill that is a restaurant. Its a classy very cozy Irish restaurant. They start you out with a bread basket of various home made Irish breads. The service is extremely friendly without checking up on how you are doing too often. I had the seared salmon and my friend had beef sirloin. We sampled each others plate to expand our experience of the menu. The salmon was among the best salmon I have ever had. It was served on a bed of spinach which was also some of the best spinach I have ever had. A healthy portion of mashed potatoes was also on the side. The mashed potatoes had a unique flavor to it. Some kind of other vegetables were mixed in with it. Right off the bat that does not sound appealing to me personally to mix other vegetables in with the mashed potatoes but I can honestly say that not only were the mashed potatoes among the best mashed potatoes I have ever had before, they ARE the best mashed potatoes I had ever had before. I was blown away by them and by everything else I had. The sirloin steak that I sampled was probably just under the best sirloin I have ever had. I was also able to try a cup of their corn and shrimp chowder soup. Corn and shrimp is an odd sounding combination but it worked very well. The soup was delicious. I heard from my friend that the salad was very good, I hadn't tried it. Its hard to screw up salad unless the lettuce is not fresh. The ambiance is more cozy/upscale. The prices considering the location, quality of food, and ambiance are very reasonable. My seared salmon was only twelve something and that came with the spinach, soup, and mashed potatoes. They also have a fabulous beer and wine list. I recommend making reservations. There are probably no more than twelve tables and they did fill up when I went. This is the most I have written in a review of single restaurant so far but with good reason. Go to foleys! Let me know what you think of it.
